Meet Mulligan | Hi, I'm Mulligan and I came to Caring Hands of Bristow on December 2nd.  A good samaritan found me on the side of the road struggling to get up.  It was thundering and raining that night so I'm happy she found me.  She was nice enough to give me a bath to wash off all the dirt.  Next she called the vet and took me to them.  Though she would have liked to keep me, my injuries were too extreme.  She was gracious enough to help all she could. She paid for radiographs and the doctors gave me a bunch of pain medicine. The doctors determined I fractured my femur and I was severely emaciated. My leg would have to be plated or amputated.  The staff fell in love with me, after all, how could you not?  I'm just a big love bug.  I just want to be your friend, and get some food, since I'm about 35 pounds underweight.  The entire time they were doing x-rays I just waggled my tail, never once complaining or crying out in pain, after all, that’s for those lil' froo-froo dogs.  I’m currently resting comfortably at Caring Hands Bristow until I hear what the next step is. I know the staff wants to go through with surgery but they can’t do it there, they are going to have to send me to a to a specialist, where my estimated surgery cost is $2,500!  After surgery I will return to Caring Hands of Bristow for my recovery and rehabilitation.  Once I'm healed, I hope to find my forever home!  To learn more about me or to donate please go to my website!

Canine Influenza | Recently, there have been confirmed reports of Canine Influenza in Fairfax County.  The most common signs are coughing, sneezing and discharge from the eyes and nose.  Treatment, if signs develop, is very successful with only a small portion of dogs becoming severely infected.  If you have any questions regarding your dog we will be happy to speak with you.  Also, we have provided some links below with helpful information regarding this virus.
