Canine Influenza | Recently, there have been confirmed reports of Canine Influenza in Fairfax County.  The most common signs are coughing, sneezing and discharge from the eyes and nose.  Treatment, if signs develop, is very successful with only a small portion of dogs becoming severely infected.  If you have any questions regarding your dog we will be happy to speak with you.  Also, we have provided some links below with helpful information regarding this virus.

"A new service has opened in Prince William County for residents and their pets - A Pet Food Pantry for families in need.  When tough times strike, people turn to food pantries to keep from going hungry.  But residents will not find any canned vegetables or boxes of macaroni and cheese at the Prince William SPCA’s new pet food pantry, which is the first of its kind in the area.  Located in the lobby of the Manassas City Animal Adoption Center in Manassas, the pet food pantry opened recently and is now stocked with cat and dog food."  Learn More

Meet Suri | Recently rescued by the Humane Society of Fairfax County, Suri is a dachshund mix that was previously in an abusive home where she received intentional chemical burns along her entire back.  Although this little girl has been through more than most of us could imagine, she is the sweetest patient and loves everyone!  Suri has been living at Caring Hands for more than a month and continues to receive ongoing veterinary care.  Her treatment has required multiple surgeries, frequent bandage changes, and many medications to encourage the growth & healing of healthy skin along her back.  Between medical costs, and a court case against this animal abuse, the Humane Society’s costs are piling up.  Please let us know if you would like to make a donation towards Suri’s medical bills.
