Karen Murphy, DVM | | |
Dr. Murphy, owner of Caring Hands Animal Hospital, is a graduate of Auburn University. She did a post graduate internship at Angel Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, MA. She practiced in North Carolina's Peidmont region for 5 years before joining Caring Hands Animal Hospital. She has been a part of the Caring Hands family for over 10 years beginning at our Centreville office for 5 years and then opening the Bristow location in 2005. Her interests in include preventative medicine, internal medicine, surgery and ultrasound. Dr. Murphy and her husband enjoy their two daughters, Emily and Abigail and their son Ryan. She has 3 furry children as well - two cats, Allie and Belle; and well a a Border Collie named Duncan. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, taking time to enjoy the beach and being involved in Girl Scouts with her daughters.
Kara Tennant, DVM | | |
Dr. Tennant is a graduate of St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. She completed her clinical studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She is originally from Sacramento, California and attended the University of California, Riverside. Her interests include internal medicine, ultrasound and zoonotic diseases. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors running, golfing, mountain biking and hiking. She has lived in the Northern Virgina area and been a part of the Caring Hands family for over 5 years. Her furry family includes her loving cats Athena and Jinx and her dogs, Temper and Gunner.
Jennifer Zurkus, DVM | | |
Dr. Zurkus is a graduate if Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine. She also holds a degree in Animal Science from Cornell. Her professional interests include oncology, soft tissue surgery, emergency/critical care medicine and caring for geriatric patients. Dr. Zurkus and her husband have a young daughter and son. She has been a part of the Caring Hands Family for 3 three years. On the furry side, she has Gracie, a yellow lab and Willow, a domestic shorthair. In her spare time she enjoys kayaking, skiing and cooking.
Nora Glaser, DVM | | |
Dr. Glaser is a graduate of the Royal Veterinary College of the University of London and also attended the International Veterinary Acupuncture Basic Course in 2005. Her interests include Internal Medicine and Feline Behavior. A native of Richmond, she has lived in the Northern Virgina area for over 5 years and been a part of the Caring Hands family for over 3 years. She enjoys spending time with her husband and young son. Her furry family includes her cat Savannah and their "Cockador" Macon and Cavalier Gus. |

Caroline Boyd, DVM | | |
Dr. Caroline Boyd is a graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine with an undergraduate degree from James Madison University. She is a life-long resident of Gainesville, graduating from Stonewall Jackson High School, and is happy to be back in the area. She is particularly interested in the fields of preventive medicine, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, learning photography, and spending time with her Beagle mix, Roxy.
Stephanie Henderson, DVM | | |
Dr. Henderson is a graduate of the University of Tennessee college of veterinary medicine. She is originally from Tennessee, where she practiced in Nashville for four years before moving to northern Virginia. She spent several years as a full-time emergency veterinarian. Her areas of interest include emergency/critical care, ophthalmology and internal medicine. Shelter medicine is also important to Dr. Henderson and she works with The Middleburg Humane Foundation and their spay/neuter program. She has been part of the Caring Hands family for 3 years. Outside of work she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and son. Her family also includes 4 cats and two dogs. |
